RACE RIDER is my second book to be published. The other was a local publisher in Utah.
The book, coming out for Christmas, I hope, is the story of what happens to Jack Sh0rt who is about 4 foot 8 at the end of his sophomore year. He feels invisible. During the summer, the best job he can get at Hollywood Park Racetrack is shoveling manure in the barns. Find out what happens when he discovers that he’s nine feet tall on the back of a racing thoroughbred.
RACE RIDER is based, loosely, on a short story titled JOCKEY SHORTS, which was written to be sent to Boy’s Life Magazine. That is non-history, but if anyone would like to read JOCKEY SHORTS, please let me know and I’ll send you an e-copy. You get an idea about Jack and his affinity for horses. The family characters don’t change their names, but their response to Jack is improved in the book over the story.
